About the Role
The Compensation Specialist is responsible for supporting the compensation area of Human Resources by performing all data entry, tracking, and maintenance of the HRIS system. This role will report to the Manager Compensation & Performance.
Position Responsibilities
• Initiates, tracks, and processes internal staffing changes (e.g., transfers, promotions, secondary positions, terminations etc.).
• Regularly audits and maintains data integrity of HRIS system.
• Maintains and tracks GITCA enrollments.
• Provides guidance to management on all compensation processes and procedures.
• Collaborates with department managers on reporting and compensation-related projects.
• Issues and tracks tip credit letters annually.
• Assists with union auto progression increases, annual increases, and off cycle increases.
• Assists with special projects related to the HRIS, performance review, and timekeeping systems.
• Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary grades.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining Human Resource reports, including but not limited to compensation matrix, performance reviews, salary surveys, etc.
• Prepares, updates, and submits required regulatory reports.
• Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
• Other duties to be assigned as needed.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Must have manual dexterity to allow for inputting of data into computer software and be capable of viewing computer monitors for extended periods of time.
• Travel to/from work and on-site attendance to perform the essential function of the job
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum 3 years’ experience in analytical role.
• Knowledge of HRIS systems.
• Proven and effective analytical skills.
• Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience with labor unions preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Intermediate Excel skills preferred.
