DescriptionThe Compensation Analyst role will support the HR Strategy & Informatics Division and the Talent Division with the development of compensation plans and models, while analyzing and reviewing positions, employee performance and succession data. The analyst will work with departments and divisions to evaluate job descriptions and classifications for both classified and unclassified positions, to determine appropriate grades, ranges and rates of pay, by preparing supporting documentation and justification speaking to the accuracy and methodology of the analysis. The Compensation Analyst will perform extensive market analysis and provide data that will support talent acquisitions and budget planning by reviewing changes in wages and making suggestions for long-term compensation planning. The analyst will provide support within the Human Resources Department on varying projects including CBA (collective bargaining agreement) analysis and preparation, the development and upgrade of Oracle Fusion compensation related elements, support of P/HR strategic projects and employment analysis.

ResponsibilitiesRequired Tasks
- Conduct research to understand organization-specific issues, including compensation, rewards, engagement, performance and succession.
- Research, gather and analyze data to determine the appropriate salary level and job title for existing and proposed positions.
- Responsible for evaluating all positions using market data to help align positions to proper grades and matches job titles to benchmark jobs where applicable by obtaining job descriptions when necessary.
- Responsible for the preparation of spreadsheets by researching appropriate data sources and populating salary survey data; including updating pay plan as needed, inputting data from salary surveys, and ensuring accuracy of information and formulas.
- Responsible for the completion of third-party salary surveys.
- Provide support for compensation questions and technical questions about the PayFactors application and the WC classification/pay plan relating to classified, unclassified and elected compensation.
- Assist with report writing, as it relates to describing and summarizing project objectives, methodologies, analysis and results.
- Support OE projects including project design, analysis, budgeting and implementation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducational Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in a business-related field, prefer mathematics, statistics or human resources or the equivalent combination of education and experience, with an emphasis on position development, compensation and data analysis.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of (5) years of business-related or analytical-related experience, preferably involving data analysis and financial modeling.
- Experience working with compensation, position development, employee performance and succession planning within an HR department is preferred.
- Experience with compensation, performance and ERP solutions strongly desired. (PayScale/PayFactors/Salary.com and Oracle/PeopleSoft/SAP/Other HRIS or ERP applications).
