Compensation Analyst

Job Title: Compensation Analyst

Reports to:  Human Resource Generalist  

FLSA Status:  Exempt 

 

Summary:  To research job requirements for all positions within the company to ensure that employee compensation is competitive and aligns with market standards. This may include reviewing industry trends, analyzing salary data, and comparing the company’s compensation packages with those of similar organizations.


Required Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation range for each position. 
  2. Prepares and maintains compensation and salary requirements. 
  3. Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt of non-exempt and appropriate salary range. 
  4. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys to assess market trends to present to upper-level management. 
  5. Research employee benefits. Recommends changes or updates to company’s existing benefits or policies. 
  6. Works with insurance brokers and investment planners to create competitive, cost-effective benefit packages for the organization. Facilitates implementation and enrollment for insurance and retirement plans.  
  7. Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures and collective agreements. 
  8. Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.
  9. Ensures job descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by the incumbents and make any necessary changes.
  10.  Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and documents job duties, responsibilities and skills required by each job.
  11. Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information. 
  12. Conducts data and cost analysis to be used in employee negotiation and collective agreements.

Education/Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, or similar. Minimum of 2-4 years as a compensation analyst required. Experience in healthcare setting, a plus.

 

 

Language Ability: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

 

 

Math Ability: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

 

Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:  

  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitive research methods.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
